expert slip

Terms from Statistics for HCI: Making Sense of Quantitative Data

An expert slip is a form of error that is more frequently performed by an expert. Whilst novices may make errors due to lack of knowledge or practice, expert slips are often about performing tasks quickly or with less attention. They are typically infrequent, but may be more damaging and may be noticed far later as experts do not usually need to check the results of their actions as often as novices.
